With a busy basketball season just ending for Ashlyn,
Austin, and Jake, (pics to come)
Soccer has begun!
To kick it off:
Jake had a tournament this weekend in South Denver.
The Colorado Cup.
His team is good. We feel lucky to be on it.
This is Jake's second season with Dynamite.
His coaches : Rachael and Selby Hansen.
They are amazing. They both played College sports.
They are knowledgeable and know how to motivate and train the boys.
We love this team.
The boys were nervous with a winning title to defend.
before each game, the ref checks for proper cleats and shin guards.
Then the ref call out out the boys one by one with picture I.D.
Jake loves sports and lives for these moments.
He always get his game face on and ready.
He was quiet all the way down to the tournament.
(about 45 minute drive from home.)

Ry and I love tournaments too.
It is fun to watch the team get out and play other competitive teams.
You plan on 2 to 3 games a day.
You bring chairs, snacks, kindles, and blankets to keep you set.
It looks sunny but it was a bit cloudy and 55 degrees.
I was still cold! But I finally bit the bullet and bought a North Face coat
The big thing out here. Everyone wears North Face and shops at REI.
Something that I am not used to or really care for.
But guess what?
The coat kept me warm all weekend! love it.
Worth the money.
Jake's tournament began!
The first 2 games...no problem!
3 to 1
7 to 1
Dynamite won!
(Jake in the middle of the pic..jump kicking the ball!)

It's fun to sit on the sidelines and cheer for the team!
Ry and I enjoy watching our kids play all their sports!
and the other kids were great to support as well.
We all go try to go to each other sports.

IN between games, we couldn't wait to go to
Cafe Rio~
Our fav fav!
It is in South Denver so we don't go unless we are down south.
We went there for lunch!
Oh it was divine: Pork Salad, Pork Tacos, Flan and Tres Leches.
We were lovin' it!

The next day, Jake's team made it to Semi Finals and won 3 to 0.
A shut out.
We made it to the FINALS!
We had to wait till late into the day to play our final game.
Serious business! It is what the boys have been working for year round.
Rachael gave them a serious pep talk.
Jake looks nervous, excited, serious... :)

With playing all the games, and with the weather turning cold,
the boys were tired..
but ready.
The teams lining up...walking out to the field.
(sizing each other up :)

and they were off.
off to the championship game.
the boys seemed tired from both ends.
We scored and were up 1 to 0 at half.
We dominated the second half but missed shot after shot!
With the clock ticking down, the game was in the bag...
but,
Westminster scored a goal with minutes left.
tied one to one
With the weather turning to snow,
they did a shootout instead of overtime play. (whaaaaat?!?)
6 boys each team.
a shot at the goal.
they made 2. our boys missed by hairs! but made NONE.
just like that. the championship decided by a shoot out!( bummer!)
we lost.
the boys were upset to say the least.
Jake's face says it all...
Jake's face says it all...
A fabulous, fun weekend.
And good for the boys to lose one. A close one.
They put their heart into and gave it their best and had fun.
That's all the counts.
Glad to make it to the finals.
A hard loss,
but humble pie is always good!
way to go Jakers!
Now off to the start of a great season of soccer.
Jake will play/practice 4 times a week.
Austin and Jake both signed up for flag football as well!
Ashlyn took the season off but committed to practicing basketball at our Rec Center 3x a week.
then off to tennis lessons for all....! Here we go!
love it!

So loved that post and the face of Jake tells all. Both the happy and the sad. He will cherish forever. Don't ever quit blogging. Your kids will thank you! Trust me....
Those moments make all the driving and money worth it. What a fun weekend. It's like my dance weekends. Crazy but fun. I love Jakes face. He is truly happy. You are a true Coloradian now. North Face coat and I saw you in sweats on one of your blogs. Good girl. Glad you got your RIO!!!! That's the best reward of all.
It's fun to see your kids doing so many great things. I can't wait to be able to come to some of their games in person!
