Caribbean Heaven

So I want to blog this trip for my journal! We went in the beginning of 2008 with Misty and Bri to Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. Ummm, words can't really describe the absolute joy and fun we had on this sunny Caribbean trip!!

Oh sweet Mexico.... crystal clear water, sweet Caribbean air, lazy warm hammock days, and pure heaven on earth

We went to Cancun for 3 nights and Playa Del Carmen for 3 nights. LOVED them both for different reasons!

Ry is para sailing in the pic on the left. Tawny was no way going up with him!! I was perfectly happy on the solid ground, sipping my pina colada on the warm sunny beach and watching him go way to high! Noooo thanks. He actually said it was rather boring but the view was spectacular.

Oh my! The water was the most pure, blue, crystal clear, water ever! I couldn't really believe how beautiful the beaches were. I L O V E D them.

We all went to go see the ruins down by playa. The ruins were so intriguing because they were so old. They let us go up to them and walk all around them. Twenty feet past the ruins was a cliff leading to the beach. It had winding stairs going down..so cool!

This was our private beach in Playa Del Carmen. So different from Cancun because this was private and so quiet! No tourists allowed but the ones staying at our resort. A van would drive us every day to this remote beach (about 45 min. drive through Playa) and drop us off for the day. Seriously it was P A R A D I S E. Ry had died and gone to heaven laying in the hammock! Sweet Joy!

I promise Misty and I did not plan our white dresses together. We both went to TJ Maxx on separate days and bought the same exact dress! Funny huh! We were laughing all week about it!

Fiesta Americana Condesa Resort! (in Cancun) The best, we loved it, beautiful, amazing, and so so fun! This pic is us standing on top of the resort looking down. We went up at night and listened to the ocean waves. It was soooo calming and so relaxing.

Okay I love this picture: 3 words: the sun, the beach, and diet coke.

Ohh, is this heaven on earth? I think so.

Misty and I were laughin' at Ry. He just said some not so nice words to the cab driver that was an hour late to pick us up to take us to Excaret.

This shack was the cutest ever. It was on our private beach and the locals cooked up the best steak fajitas and home made guacamole. I ate buckets of guac with my diet cokes. The food was mouth-watering.

Another view of our resort. The pool was almost as enticing as the real ocean. They kept it so nice and clean. They had 100 star service and treated us like kings. I wasn't used to being so pampered and it took awhile to relax and enjoy it! ( I kept thinking: Where are the kids?? It takes me about 1.8 days to chill out and to not worry about the kiddos back home!)
By the way, What is Brian doing in the picture below us? (Red and white shorts :)) Uhh, let's just say the public bathrooms weren't usable!

This was a view from our deck. The sunsets were incredible.

The pic of all 4 of us is at the ruins. It took us about 2 hours to drive through Mexico to get there. I loved learning about the history of them. Misty got bored of the tour and took off to go wander. I loved it.

Is the water for real? I told everybody that I wished that Christopher Columbus had discovered Mexico and called it America. We would all be so happy with such beauty! :)

Oh baby! The weather was a perfect 82-83 degrees. It was perfect to lounge in the sand and let the sun shine down on you without getting to hot or you could go soak in the ocean water without getting cold. I was so happy!

Again all I can say is Oh sweet Mexico.... crystal clear water, sweet Caribbean air, lazy warm hammock days, and pure heaven on earth! We had such a great trip and we will never forget it. We did so many other things that I didn't post pics of. It's too much to write all down. We went snorkeling, we went on speed boats, went to dinner every night to a new and fun place, we shopped, we toured...we did it all
My favorite place would have to be Excaret. I didn't take my camera because I didn't want to lose it. It was a ginormous nature resort. Snorkeling, kayaking, cliff diving ( soooo fun, I did it! ) nature bike rides, etc. Misty and I took off on a nature bike riding trip and we had the craziest time. I won't ever forget the moment of being in the secluded jungle and looking at monkeys and riding my bike through winding trees and just laughing. Misty and I kept saying, "remember this moment when we are home in the cold, wet, snow and how happy we are! And yes, I always think about that moment! Sounds cheesy, but it was so great.
We had such a good time with Bri and Misty and hope to travel with them again. Ry and I had such a good time together without the kids! It took awhile for me to relax and not worry so much about the kids, but we managed to enjoy every second alone! :) Till next time....in one week Ry and I are going on a Caribbean Cruise to the Bahamas. We are staying in Miami a couple of nights because Ry has to get his "fix." So I will be blogging again for my journal! :)

Mountain Beauty- Silver Lake, Brighton

The Stott family loves the mountains~~

Seriously the mountains don't even look real! They are so amazing! I love Salt Lake because we are nestled right in between the good ole' Rockies. We are so lucky to live here.

We go up to Silver Lake at Brighton at least twice a year to hike and to fish!
We couldn't fish
that day. (we went up first of Sept.) The water was to low and there was mud everywhere...yuck.

The mix of the green color in the fields and mountains are so beautiful.

Since we couldn't fish, we decided to hike around the lake. We sometimes do Mary's Lake which is about 1.5 miles S T R A I G H T up the mtn, but again, due to the mud, we decided not to. Sooo we hiked the cute pathway along Silver Lake, it's about a mile. We took about 2 hours doing it because the kids stopped everywhere to explore the wondrous mountains.

Oh the blue and the greens....mmm

Ashlyn absolutely loves every creeping, crawling, creature put on this earth....! She cried B U C K E T S of tears when Jakey smashed the Tarantula at the Mountain House.

I stubbed my lil' pinky toe, man it hurt!
We will be back when the snow melts!

Sweet brotherly love!

All I have to say is this:

I. love. my. boys. with. all. my. heart.

All Ry ever wanted was a brother..never got one...now he has 3 sons for himself..

We feel so blessed.

Oh and let me not forget this boy:

My Ry, their dad....What a man! Loves to you.
Ash and I are lucky girls to have so many "men" in our lives.

Christmas magic, kid's haven, and the true meaning

Finally....Christmas Day had arrived!

We have been so busy the last few days so I will post a few things we did. Ry's sister, Cindee, came into town and stayed with us for Christmas. The kids love her!

Christmas Eve was perfect:
6:00 Fancy dinner: Roast, carrots, potatoes, and breadsticks (made by me..impressive :)
7:00 Christmas Eve Program....J.O.Y ~
J stands for Jesus~ O stands for others~ and Y stands for yourself. We read the nativity from Luke 2, read a Christmas book, and watched "the Gift." I Love the meaning of all 3.

8:00 Opened gifts from gpa and gma Stott...thanks for the Christmas pj's and games! (we miss you so much esp. at xmas time)
8:45 Christmas Eve Sparkly bubbly toasts.....they consist of any little desire or happiness of your heart: family, presents, Jesus, and snow!

9:30 Elf (the movie) with hot brownies and peppermint icecream!

Phew what a night...Ry and I were exhausted but had to wait up for Santa's arrival. The kids took forever to fall asleep. They were soooo excited!

Yay, Christmas morning!! Finally the time had arrived to open all of the long-awaited gifts.....! Mace woke us all up at 6:25. Ry and I had stayed up till 1:49 A. M waiting for Santa to come...We. were. so. tired. But as we all know, Christmas only comes once a year, so the sleeplessness was worth it! Santa brought Austin his love sac,
Ashlyn got her digital camera,

Jake got his Clone Trooper Star Wars gun, and Mace got his camera too! Other fab gifts: 4 wii games, 3 d.s games, ipod shuffle, a chocolate brown love sac rocker, and the boys favorite: 2 electric motor scooters!

Christmas morning breakfast. The menu included: warm eggs, sizzling bacon, corn beef hash (ry's fav), potato hash browns, and sweet orange rolls. MMM yummy.

Ry and I decided no gifts! We are getting a brand, new house in less than 5 weeks, that is Christmas enough!! But, Ry suprised me with a new ipod..yay. When I run every day, I have to listen to music!! I never let Ry take the ipod to work.... So Ry said this gift was more for him than me~!

Sorry these pics aren't all in order :)
During the movie Elf, Ash realized their were no home made cookies in the house! Apparently Santa only likes home made, not store bought, so she whipped some up by herself!

After we opened our gifts, (around noon)we took the trek down ( holy smokes it was snowing!!) to my parent's mission home in Provo. It was the first year we were able to go when all the family was there so it was fun for the kids to be with all of the cousins. The cousins were soooo hyper and sooo Christmas happy...

My parents had missionaries at their house. I think they were a little overwhelmed at the size of the Brown clan. They just smiled and laughed as they listened to our stories...between Troy and Misty, the stories can get a lil crazy!

My mom had cooked a huge lunch for all 50+ people: pork roast, honey-baked ham, warm broccoli, home made wheat bread, and a delectible fruit bowl. Dessert: chocolately fudge, delicious, pink sugar cookies (my fav!), pumpkin pie, and creamy cheese cake. I ate. so. much. BUT it was so good~ thanks mom!

By the way, It snowed and snowed and snowed and snowed.... We were afraid Cindee wouldn't be able to get out of the driveway! The snow was coming down and had no intentions of stopping. It took awhile to shovel her out but she made it just in time for her massage and steam room soak. Ohh, sooo not fair!
Thanks Cindee (and max her doggy :) for coming to visit us. You mean so much to us and the kids absolutely adore you. Drive home safe to San Fran!

What a great 2008 Christmas season we had! I can't believe I am saying this but I am glad it is over. It has been amazingly fun to get the house all ready, put the 3 tree's up, shop for gifts, attend holiday parties, cook fancy dinners, etc.....but it's time for the new year and new adventures! Love to you all: cheers to 2009!
