I love Utah.
I love living in Utah and enjoying all the beauty it holds.
Thanks to my ambitious parents I have been to all of these places in the pics.
(10 kids crammed in a mini van driving all over the state camping and hiking..craziness!!)

Almost every year my dad would take us kids backpacking down the Escalante.
30 mile round trip, hiking through Utah's beauty.
All we needed we carried on our back: food, clothes, sleeping bag and water (we would fill up with H2o in the natural water pools at every stop)
It was H E A V Y. But we would take 3 or 4 days and hike and hike. It was the hardest thing we ever did : We had to survive mice attacking are food at night, bats flying around our heads at dusk, and 100's and 100's of daddy long legs crawling all around the camp. (thus my fear)
But in the end, through all of the blisters, sunburns, and hungry bellies, my parents taught us to appreciate n a t u r e at it's f i n e s t:
Up close and personal.
No motels, no running water, no fine dining.
Just us with nature.
It was actually quite rewarding. (in hindsight!)
I feel it made me love the outdoors and the beauties of the earth.
We would have to climb through rock caves like this one to make it through to Steven's Canyon. After Stevens we would hit the grand Lake Powell! It was quite the sight.

Zion's National Park, Utah (b e a u t i f u l!)
Angel's Landing
(do you Utah peeps recognize the scary drop off?!)
Hiked it many times.....
BUT I stop where the lady is standing.
No thank you.
The 5 mile windy hike up was good enough for me. No need to see where the "angel's land." That skinny little metal rope is all you have between death and you! My whole family would hike up to the top no problem. My only true P H O B I A in life : heights! S C A R Y.
My hearts beats so fast just looking at that pic....
Beautiful red rock winding down through the rock canyon.
It boast 378 miles of colorful canyons, ridges, buttes, and monoliths...
ahhhh beautiful.
I collected my favorite rocks from Capitol Reef.

Canyonlands or aka "Dead Horse Point" State Park:
"the gooseneck of the Colorado River"
Breathtaking in person.
It is truly a beauty to behold.....
We have been quite a few times traveling through Utah.
Moab, Utah
Arches National Park
The favorite: Delicate Arch.
Amazing. Wondrous.
(should be one of the seven wonders...)
As you drive through the canyon, you can't take your eyes off the landscape....arches line the park. There are over 2,000 natural sandstone arches. You can't believe they are all made by the forces of nature over millions of years.
Okay I need to stop. I need to do a part 2 and 3 because I could go and on.....we have been to many other places....but
Soon we are off to Moab Utah.
Big Brown family gathering.
My parents idea of getting us all together A G A I N and enjoying mother nature at it's finest.....
time for the grand kids to start exploring Utah's beauty!
Thanks mom and dad....cya all soon...

you have a remarkable family.
SO, should I move to Utah??? We need to get out of L.A. fast!
Those are awesome pictures. I think we should all go exploring with you as our tour guide. Our kids are getting old enough it would be fun. Maybe not backpacking in yet, but a small town motel. Have a fun weekend.
Your parents were so good to teach you guys to appreciate nature and take you to so many places. Some of those pics were scary, I wouldn't go anywhere near that skinny path. Those pictures were gorgeous.
Have fun next week! Bring the good weather back with you!!!!
It was fun to remember all of the vacations we took growing up, i loved it all. I have hiked Angel's Landing all of my life, you said you never hiked to the top because that is where angels land. No kidding, is that is where the name came from?
Kinda like traveling down memory lane! My heart beats too when i look again at the pics but my heart beats out of enthusiasm and happiness. I just love the great rocks and mountains and love just thinking about being there. Actually I would love to live in Zions in the midst of the great stone monoliths. Maybe it should be my new winter home!
Wow, you really remember a lot more than I do about where we traveled. I do love so much the beauty of Utah too. Now that I'm older I can actually look back and miss those times. When we were younger I felt like we were being dragged around in our Blue Astro Van with smelly feet and bumpy roads. But I'm so glad that we were, because if we weren't, we would have missed out on soooo much beauty!
GOing to Moab just made me realize how much I miss all of that stuff. I want my kids to grow up with it.
Yeah for our new tradition.
