Road to Hana. B E A U T I F U L

simply amazing.
What a day. The Road to Hana!
Spectacular!
I wish I could say it was fabulous sunny day, but it wasn't!
It rained. and rained.
for 12 hours straight.
But that sure didn't stop us.
We just loved it!
Ry feeling the ocean BREEZE!
We left at 7:00 a.m. and didnt' get home till almost 8:00 p.m.
We hiked, explored, and journeyed
through the beautiful wet island of Maui.
I can't say enough how beautiful it was.
(and I can imagine with the sunshine, how amazing it would of been..)
and NO I didn't pose. Ry and I took pics at every stop. random shots.
I look at these pics, and it all comes back.
I just loved that day. It was so fun to be in the tropical Hawaii.
I couldn't get enough.

Our favorite spots:
The Black Sand Beach (and the blow holes)
and definitely the Seven Pools of Oheo. hands down.
(I'm walking towards Ry on the edge. We all had to stop and LOOK at the view....
can YOU say Jurassic Park?!?)
OH wow!

tropical
lush beauty :)

Halfway through the Road to Hana,
we found a little Coconut shop. so cute :)
we bought homemade banana bread and mango juice.
Black Sand Beach.
We spent a couple hours here. WE loved it. It was unreal! :)
The beach was truly black! and when you pick up the sand, it wasn't sand,
it was tiny lava rocks...
the water was a turquoise blue.
it felt so good on my feet!

look closely!
teeny tiny rocks :)
my foot! with the rocks. awesome!
Ry and I on the BEACH :)
We went exploring all along the beach.
We found a spot with multiple blow holes.
Ry and I stacie were NOT afraid to crawl on down to the rocks
and check them out.
Dangerous..you can't tell, but the waves were crashing against the lava rock!

I L O V E this pic.
Stacie on top of the Lava Arch!
aww so cool!
The Seven Pools of Oheo!
My FAVORITE!
it was spectacular!

Ry and D hanging out.
It was the end of the day...
and we were SO tired.
But loving every second.
trees with long vines hanging down..TARZAN
On the hike up to the top pools of Oheo, (4 miles up to see all 7 pools)
I broke my flip-flop!
(I slipped down the mud! it was funny. and bruised my foot. ouch)
I tried to fix it over and over, but finally I just threw it out and spent the
rest of the day in bare feet. awesome.

We ended the Road to Hana by driving around the entire island!
We didn't turn around and drive back the 45 (hair pin, curvy) miles,
instead we just kept going. We rented a convertible jeep for this reason.
We knew we wanted to go around the entire island.
It was an unpaved, small dirt road that went around the back end. The dry part.
Really dry. It was shocking to see the difference ! wow.
It was stunning. The road lined the ocean.
There were some really high parts winding down the hills.
It was scary but just so beautiful! We saw a few small homes and a church
nestled right along the ocean shore.
Wild pigs and hens running around.
so cool. What a day, one I will NEVER forget.
what an experience! Thank you again Ry!

Big Beach BLUES. Maui

Oh man, Our FAV beach! Big beach.
B E A U T I F U L
Ry walking into the ocean.
The C O L O R S...were so mesmerizing. Look at the blue sky..it contrasts
with the gray sky with the B L U E S of the ocean.
Ry and I went on a walk and went up on the bluff above Big Beach.
We sat and stared at this view...spectacular. S I M P L Y beautiful.
Another view :) gorgeous colors!
The days were hot and sunny.
Clouds rolled in and out all day.
It made the ocean B L U E S look so pretty.

Big Beach Blue Bliss..
what a day we had.
Like I said earlier, this was our first trip to Hawaii.
It was great to see the tropical beauty.
(so different from the Caribbean. which we LOVE and still Ry's fav)
snorkeling..or Road to Hana next!

kayaking!

(These pics were all with my point and shoot...not so clear :)
We were so busy with all our excursions,
we didn't have time to do a
big kayaking trip.
so we rented them off the shore (Grand Wailea) and took off into the
beautiful ocean :)
It was dreamy. The water was so blue, the sun glistened off the water,
it was so fun just
to be out together..floating away.
We stayed out for a couple of hours.
It felt so good.
I love YOU maui :)
our view!
next...
snorkeling to Molikini
xo!

No schedule, no demands, no worries, no sports...nothing!

It was just what I imagined. The night was fabulous.
Warm air, palm trees, the setting was magical. I tried to soak up every second.

Maui summer days. Resort beauty

I am going to start my Maui posts with some of my favorite pics. (of the resort)
This pic of my running path in the early mornings.
see the sidewalk??
It lined all the bottom of resorts along the beautiful ocean.
About 1.3 miles long...(Wailea)

(look how T A L L the palms really are!) wow!

I fell in love with this tree! It was on the Marriott grounds.
And it was so GRAND.
ON the first night, us 4 all came down and layed under it and looked up at the stars.
(see the two blue chairs??see how big the tree is?)
We chatted into the night, enjoyed the sound of the ocean waves,
and felt the cool breeze. A dreamy night.
more views of the ocean sidewalk.
It was so fun to run the ocean.
Many people were out walking, running, enjoying the ocean views.
Hawaii is 4 hours behind Denver. I woke up every day around 5 a.m.
But I loved it, it made our Hawaiian days L O N G.
The first morning the boys woke up at 6 a.m and golfed 18 holes.
Stac and I went on a long walk and then hit the beautiful beach!
The resort had two infinity pools...first one.
it was so relaxing and beautiful. :)
The second pool. Our view here was amazing. Our favorite!
we spent our last day here just looking OUT, soaking up that beautiful view!
Pina coladas, warm sunshine, good company..it was such a great trip :)
The view right outside our room :)
Lahaina is the mountain in the background..we went and shopped there
and went to the beaches as well.
It was so fun to see the wet and the dry islands.
sunset . just beautiful.
the average temp was 84 degrees. and 75 degrees at night.
it was perfect.
we kayaked off this beach...(post to come)
next post: The Luau!
