Red walls, blogging, and birthdays

We have been in our new house since February. We are so happy and love every inch of it! It was such a L O N G road to get this house. It was one of our longest hardest years. I really can't write in a few words all we went through, that will be it's own post.

But some of you followed a little bit of our adventures- I started blogging in November of 2008. See it here. We had been in the Mountain house for already 2 months and we had 3 more to go. I started blogging as a way to communicate to both grandparents who were serving missions away. I also was somewhat "alone" at the mtn. house and thought it would be a great time to start . (pics of boys at mtn house..beautiful!) And then blogging turned into something a little bit more. It surprised me at how much I enjoyed a creative outlet, pictures with colors and music. I loved to sit down and "put it all together." I also realized how big the blogging world was, had no idea how many other mom's blogged, I loved reading other perspectives and thoughts. It was such a great way to relate and to share lessons of life.

I have enjoyed it and hope to continue. Life is getting so busy so I am finding it is harder to keep up with it all, but I hope to keep it as a journal of our lives and make the blog into a book.

I want to thank everyone that supports us, it means a lot. And I love comments because I feel that you care and you are listening. It is such a fun way to quickly say hi to each other in our "cyber" voices. And also again, I want to say I despised English in college, I am N O T a good writer, never have been. I am a math and science girl, give me Calculus or a chemical equation and I would feel much more comfortable. Anyway, thanks for following and thanks for being there for us Stott's!
So cheers to my 6 month blogging birthday!

By the way, I started this post to simply say: I miss my red walls!! I miss the W A R M T H color brings to my home and to my heart! Ry and I decided not to paint anything in the new house for a year. We decided that b/c the paint is fresh and the lines are clean...to keep it simple for now, Ry loves that. AND I love color but I understand his wish. So I will try to stop my mind from spinning colors all around.... I am trying to be patient...but this is so hard! Maybe we will change it to a 6 month rule!

My Christmas mantle at our last home. I love my Ralph Lauren Suede Moroccan Brown finish. It accents so well with colors and it "pops" of the wall. How I want it so.......

My old living room, this wall is a Ralph Lauren Sand finish. If you look closely the base is deep red with black sand washed over it. It was like I went to the beach and came back and slathered it all over the walls. It is rough to the touch and probably a bear to ever remove it. But I L O V E the sand wash and M I S S my wall.

So I will wait. patiently. But meanwhile, my mind rarely stops talking to the walls pretending they have Moroccan red and cappuccino chocolate colors on them.....I will wait. and it will be a great day. Oh wait, I miss my yard too. I just miss grass and flowers and colors. I want to plant so desperately but we just have D I R T. No trees, no grass, no plants, just dirt. Next week we are starting the long haul and expensive task of putting in the yard starting with the sprinkling system. Yay, bring it on....

WE had a great sycamore tree in our backyard. It covered the deck and we loved the shade. This is a pic of the twinners bday last year...... The pic below is father's day morning 2008. breakfast for day, with his ice cold coke. Notice the LOVELY shade!

Speaking of, tomorrow is a B I G day. It is Ashlyn and Austin's 10th birthday! I am so excited, I love birthdays! Now off to plan, buy presents, get cake, wrap, decorate, and the list goes on and on.....
This pic was taken this morning...they are growing so fast, I can't believe they will be 10!!!!!
I love my twins and are so grateful for them!

NOW thanks again to my blogging friends for your loyalty- have a great, sunny weekend-

xoxo

paint those walls. If you dont, I will.

We have been in our home 7 months now. I find it SO frustrating to not be able to decorate and paint and shoe fro furniture and make it into the home I want it to be RIGHT NOW. It takes so long. I often look around and get depressed...patience is a tough one for me. I also find that colors, and design and pretty things make me happy! SO when my home is not hhow I would like it to look, it becomes very UNinspiring.

NOW...what kind of cake shall I make for your kiddos?????????????? IF only I could!

Happy Birthday! Happy Blogging! AND happy painting!

so, what is that you say? You have never heard of SHOE FRO FURNITURE? It is very trendy here in L.A!
(I honestly have NO IDEA what I even meant to write...maybe BUY NEW furniture???)

and yes, bet you didn't know I have a stutter...totally meant to put two "H's" in the word HOW

I think I need to step slowly away from the keyboard....

Tawny are your services for hire? No really, are they? We have lived in our house for 8 years this Nov and we have painted 2 rooms and a bathroom - that's it! I am desperately seeking color but I am sort of scared to paint - I know, it's sad isn't it?

Your old walls were gorgeous. I remember thinking you had great color combinations in your house the 2 times I went. I love how you decorate and I really want you to come to my house and inspire me. You have a funny perception of me and my house and it's totally NOT what you think. It's very vanilla but I LOVE color when I see it. Good luck with your parties!

I can understand you talking to your walls because you never quit talking. So in your quiet days without all kiddos I can see you talking. LOL. I love the shade in your old back yard. I'm sorry that you don't have a yard. that sucks. I've been there done that and never want to do it again. Everything is so dirty. Good luck with the yard, soccer and the kiddos b-day tomorrow. It sounds like a fun night tomorrow. I love those kind of nights. Have a fab weekend and thanks for going to the park today for girl time.

PS I love bloggin too and all the comments. I think I have gotten to know you so much better through blogging. Yay!!!

thanks for blogging. I love how your pics and colors of your blog wtiting come together too in pleasing harmony. Even the syle and font of your letters. Your blog of the Tulip festival was so strikiing because most of it was in "spring" green! So maybe your blog will have to be your expression of color until you can begin to paint and do your yard! Love reading about your life even if i wasn't prejudiced because you are my daughter. Congrats on blogging birthday.
