Ode to January

Dear January,
Why must you be so dismal? Especially after such a fab December month??
Your colors now bland, muted.... grays and whites everywhere.
I miss the beautiful reds of ornaments, the green fir tree's, the bright lights that speckled throughout the branches, and the colored packages wrapped under the tree. They are now gone. So why January, must you be the extreme opposite?

And January, why must you bring an inversion to the skies? All the clouds covering up the beautiful shining sun. Bringing no contrast in the skies, no sunrise, no sunset. Just a gray overhang of clouds huddled together.
and January, why oh why must you always be so cold??? I mean cold to the bone cold. I am cold 24 hours a day, every single minute. I wake up cold and go to bed cold. I miss my warming sun that cheers up my skin and my spirits!
(Mace all wrapped up!)

But wait, January, you do bring a few good things too: A new year, a fresh start, beautiful snow falls, hot chocolate, and warm fires. Nothings better than waking up to a winter wonderland...with each branch glistening with snowflakes from the sun.

(beautiful snowy morning...driving down from the Mtn. House..willowcreek. Looking South)

And January you also bring mountains that dominate the skies with all of their snow. A snow paradise for skiers and snowboarders (oh the highschool days!).....your hills brimming with snow at every corner. It makes a beautiful backdrop every day for my valley.

(looking straight up at the Wasatch Mountains! Aren't the mountains amazing?! (as high as 12,000 feet!) and YES, they are really that big (span 150 miles North to South! love them.)

You also bring the need for my girlies and friends. A need to feel reconnected again.....a month where the cold can make you feel lonely and blue but with one text, the girls can be together. (Which I am so grateful for.)
(man, we look serious!)

(girlies N E E D girlies) Relating, laughing, planning, telling, and simply just being together. January, yes, you do bring that.

So dear January my ode to you is that you bring so much in one's life:
You mark the beginning of a new year, new adventures, new goals, and new hopes. For that I'm grateful. But you are also freezing, dismal and downright blue. But hopefully with good friends, lots of hot chocolate and warm fires, we will survive.

Thank you dear January,

xoxo, Tawny

(desperately waiting for my sunshine!)

You do have a creative way of just getting it right! Thanks for bloggiing today on such a dismal subject but still helping us see the beauty and the adversity so that we can all the more enjoy the warm and the sunny when we finally receive it!

January IS depressing. Even here in warm, sunny L.A.
But I hear that March is just around the corner...

It's sunny right now. That was so creative and the pictures were awesome. January Blah!!!! I guess there are some good things in January. You have a b-day at your house. That will brighten things up. I'm feelin the winter blues. I think it's mainly because the holidays were so fabulous. Love the holiday colors too. Got to love all the changes!!!
