My blogging journal would not be complete unless I blogged about what the Stott fam spends most their time doing!! SPORTS! sports! S P O R T S! We live, breathe, and live sports. It is Ry and I's fault because we both grew up playing and loving the game of S P O R T S! I was a competitive swimmer from the age 8 to 16. I swam everyday, mornings and night. I quit in high school so I could play basketball and do track and cross-country. Ry was the pitcher on his baseball team for 7 yrs and played about every sport under the sun. Thus the kids were destined to play....sports.... soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis and swim team.

Aus started indoor soccer at the age of 3 and has not quit since. He was invited to join the competitive team Inter Futbol Club in 2006. His team does well and scores in the top 3 in the state. It keeps us sooo busy with 3 practices a week and up to 5 (yes 5) games a weekend!
His team got 2nd place this year (2008) in the Sparta Cup!

The kids like to run like their momma! yay! They have all gotten first place in their local fun run at East Sandy. Jake ran the full 2 miles last May and got 2nd place! Ry and I were sooo proud because he was so tired and wouldn't stop running! Way to go. Man I sound like such a bragger...but I guess it is my blogging journal :)!
Austin's Inter FC team got invited to play a "mini" game at halftime at the playoff game at the Real Soccer Team at the new stadium. It was a pretty cool experience for a 9 year old. Austin loved playing on such a big field with all the people watching!

All the cousins played in the same tennis league at Alta Canyon Sports. They loved waking up everyday and heading out to the sunshine to practice their tennis skills. Misty, Amber and I had fun hanging out and watching them play. Ashlyn wants to continue playing next Spring.

Swim team! Ashlyn and Cole swam on the Crestwood Gators this last summer. They went everyday and loved it. I really hope Ash continues to swim like her momma! But we always let them choose what they want to play.

Ahh Jakers. Jake is very competitive and never wants to lose. He gives 110% percent and never stops. (man I sound like a bragger again! :) For reals, Jakes" got the skills." (As Ry puts it.) He has found the best coach, (Seth) and buddy (Benjamin) and he plays every sport with them. He is currently playing soccer (4th year) and basketball (2nd year) and in the spring he plays baseball.(3rd year) Jake avgs. 10 pts a basketball game and around 4-5 goals per soccer game. Jake absolutely loves sports and will play them day and night....you will always find a ball in his hand!

Aus playing at President's Cup in 2007. Inter F.C. took first place. He actually faced his own team in the semi-final (they split so everyone could have playing time).... and his team won.

Jake making the moves! He has loved soccer and loves the challenge of each game. I don't think his team has ever lost. He has played on the same team for 3 seasons now. (Under Coach Seth! Thanks:)

Ry and I have the joy of sitting at every game! I love the hot sun but some games it is unbearable. During the season we will have 7-8 games a week. The kids love it and so do we! As long as the kids are having a good time then Ry and I will support it!

Ashlyn! Ashlyn is a lot like me where she always has to win or she is not happy. Believe me, as parents, Ry and I have tried to teach her that it doesn't matter as "long as you try your best" but she still gets so upset when her team loses. She has played soccer for 6 years and was invited to join the competitive team, Sparta. She loves her team and coach (coach Drew) and they are doing well for their first "competitive" season. She practices 3 times a week and has 1-2 games a weekend. She currently plays forward the first half and goalie for the second half. Her coach loves her tenacity and puts her as "the Keeper" so no one scores on them. Here comes the bragging: In Ashlyn's last Sparta game she scored all 3 goals and then stopped all the other teams attempt in scoring. A shut-out!! Go Ashes

I have so many professional pics of the kids playing sports but don't have them all downloaded. I need to scan the pics of the boys being coached by their favorite coach ever: Grandpa Jerry! Ry's dad has coached Austins baseball team for 2 seasons...it was awesome! Gpa Jerry was (and still is) the best coach ever and treated each of the boys like they were gold! He had a special way of making each child feel like they were "the super-star" of the team. We all love Grandpa Jerry for putting in the time and creating the memories for our kids. It's funny because all of the Brown cousins like Quinn, Lexi, and Cole all say that Gpa Jerry is their 3rd grandpa! He definitely is! Love you, Grandpa Jerry!
So to the new year of 2009. Basketball, soccer, baseball, swimming, and tennis....to all the games we will venture off to. Ry and I truly believe that sports are so full of life lessons and teach the kids so much about hard work, teamwork, and tenacity! It also gives each child "a sense of pride and accomplishment" realizing what they can do as an individual. I know swimming did that for me and my self-esteem. In the end, Ry and I believe it is not about always winning but about learning to accomplish your goals and always give it your all!

Hey it's Brett, I think I'm under angie's name. I haven't read anyone's blog in weeks since it has been a crazy time for us. Anyway, it was fun reading about the sports life of all your kids. I had no idea they all played so many sports. It reminds me a little bit of most of us growing up, playing almost every sport.
Well. . . I'll see you soon now that we've officially moved back to SLC!
Hey Brett...so true. Mom and dad were so supportive with sports. We were lucky with 10 kids to be able to have so much opportunity. I serioulsy don't think mom ever stopped driving around! I love sports and now it is sooo fun to watch my kids. It will be fun to see your babies play the sports too:)
haha i love that pic of ashes in her purple soccer uniform...so cute!
oh and by the way, i can totally teach you how to rotate your pics so that they're not upside down or whatever. it's totally easy!
xo
I love the tribute. Your kids are going to be so grateful one day!
